Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area invites your group to embark on an 18th-century revolutionary adventure. Experience a colonial city and meet the citizens who helped build a nation. Colonial Williamsburg offers a variety of ways for groups of all sizes, interests, and ages to explore the 301-acre Historic Area, browse our world-class indoor museums, and discover something new about the creation of America.

Plan your group visit from mid-March through mid-November and experience our Revolutionary City® program—a group-friendly, dramatic street theater presentation. Choose one of Colonial Williamsburg’s School and Group Tours’ packages or customize your own group experience with the help of our trained staff.

Include Great Hopes Plantation in your Colonial Williamsburg study visit and discover how most colonial Virginians lived.

At this working farm, kids can become a part of daily life in a truly hands-on experience of rural life in the 1770s. They may help to harvest crops, grind corn for food, tend to the animals, saw wood for new construction, or carry water from the well. After all, it was more profitable for rural children to work at home on the farm than to attend school. Your students will meet the “middling” farmers working the land in order to survive in this prosperous colony. They’ll also encounter some of the enslaved laborers who share stories of their individual struggles to be free.

Just a short walk from the Visitor Center, Great Hopes Plantation is an interactive history lesson your students will never forget. You’ll want to take advantage of this opportunity to experience 18th-century farm life.
